I am the live-in owner of a lovely, clean, light, comfortable first floor flat in South Oxford. The flat is actually spread over two floors, with the main living area and ‘your’ bedroom on the first floor, and my bedroom in the loft space above. The bedroom for rent in the flat is a proper sized double, meaning there is plenty of space for the double bed, and other furniture, and to move around. It is clean, bright, tastefully decorated and simply and practically furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, chair and bedside table and a couple of bookcases. (The pictures are a bit out of date– there’s a new heater and curtains now!) The rest of the flat comprises of a really comfortable, good size lounge, a well-equipped kitchen, small bathroom (I don’t have a bath but it’s a good, strong shower) and a strangely large hallway (enough room to bring a bike into the flat). There is wooden laminate flooring everywhere except the bedrooms. There’s central heating installed, so it's warm in winter. In the summer it stays nice and cool. The flat is on a quiet suburban street in an area of South East Oxford called Littlemore. (It's inside the Oxford ring road, not in Littlemore village). I have a parking space on a private driveway, which can be shared, and there’s plenty of free kerb/pavement parking on the street. There's good access to bus routes into and out of the city centre. It's a ten min walk to a bus stop on either Iffley road (Rose Hill Shops), or in Temple Cowley Centre. However, cycling is often the quickest way to get about. It's about 15 minutes to Cowley road and 20 to the city centre). The Oxford ring road is two minutes drive away, so the M40 and A34 are easily accessible too. I am a friendly, sociable, easy-going, non-smoking professional. I’ve worked for four years as an account manager with a creative design agency, based in Summertown (North Oxford). Previous to that, I worked in marketing for 11 years at Oxford University. I sometimes write film, theatre and music reviews for Daily Info (a local 'what's on' guide). It’s a good way of doing something a bit creative, and it gets me free tickets to see the things I review! I am quite house proud, and actually quite enjoy washing-up (strange, I know!), which means the house is always clean and well looked after and I might even do your dishes for you sometimes, which must surely be a bonus! I am looking for a friendly, sociable housemate who would feel comfortable sharing my much loved, clean and welcoming flat. I understand that privacy and space is very important, but it's a comfortable lounge with a whole sofa each, so I welcome company for watching TV or a film, or a bit of a chat sometimes. There’s no smoking in the flat. Age is not a big issue, nor is background. I have 2 goldfish, but I'm afraid the flat isn't suitable for any other pets. Preferably I am looking for someone who would like to stay long term-ideally 6 months or more. I do understand that circumstances change though, so I would just ask you for, and give you, a month notice, if possible. The room will be available from the start of April 2015. The serious stuff: The total room price (rent and bills) is £495 per month. This includes all bills (Council Tax, which isn’t cheap in Oxford! - gas, electricity, water, phone line rental/wireless broadband, TV license. Everything except personal telephone calls). The rent itself is £354 and the bills come to £141 in total. I ask for 1 month rent as a deposit (£354) I would appreciate being paid a monthly total of £495, preferably by direct debit or bank transfer if possible, but I’m flexible on method of payment and date.
